이 연구는 간호학을 전공하는 대학생 2∼4학년 218명을 대상으로 편의표집 된 자료로 전공선택 동기와 직업 가치관이 전공몰입에 미치는 영향과 전공 만족도의 매개효과를 검정하고자 실시되었다. 이에 따른 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 전공 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과, 전공선택 동기의 하위요인 개인적 동기(β=.567, p<.001)와 사회적 동기(β=.230, p<.001)가 정(+)의 방향으로 예측되었고, 직업 가치관의 하위요인 내재적 가치(β=.374, p<.001)와 외재적 가치(β=.181, p=.005)가 정(+)의 방향으로 예측되었다.
둘째, 전공몰입에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과, 전공선택 동기의 하위요인 개인적 동기(β=.667, p<.001)와 사회적 동기(β=.216, p<.001)가 정(+)의 방향으로 예측되었고, 직업 가치관의 하위요인 내재적 가치(β=.458, p<.001)가 정(+)의 방향으로 예측되었다. 그리고 전공 만족도에서는 하위요인 일반만족(β=.824, p<.001)이 정(+)의 방향으로 상당한 영향력으로 예측되었다.
셋째, 전공선택 동기와 전공몰입 간에 전공 만족도의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 전공 만족도는 β=.591(p<.001)로 정(+)의 방향으로 부분 매개 역할을 하는 것으로 예측되었고, Sobel test에서도 Z=7.54(p<.001)로 유의미하였다. 구체적으로 검정하고자 전공 만족도 하위요인 각각을 매개 요인으로 하여 분석한 결과, 인식 만족(β=.268, p<.001), 관계 교과 만족(β=.352, p<.001), 일반만족(β=.735, p<.001) 모두 부분 매개 요인으로 예측되었고, Sobel test에서도 Z값이 모두 1.96 이상으로 유의미하였다.
넷째, 직업 가치관과 전공몰입 간에 전공 만족도의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 전공 만족도는 β=.682(p<.001)로 정(+)의 방향으로 부분 매개 역할을 하는 것으로 예측되었고, Sobel test에서도 Z=6.66(p<.001)으로 유의미하였다. 구체적으로 검정하고자 전공 만족도 하위요인 각각을 매개요인으로 하여 분석한 결과, 인식 만족(β=.317, p<.001), 관계 교과 만족(β=.445, p<.001), 일반만족(β=.793, p<.001) 모두 부분 매개 요인으로 예측되었고, Sobel test에서도 Z값이 모두 1.96이상으로 유의미하였다.
이를 보면 간호대학생들이 전공을 선택하는 동기와 간호사로서 직업적 가치관이 긍정적이면 전공 만족도를 높이고 이는 전공수업에 몰입할 수 있게 하는 것으로 나타났다. 간호대학생은 간호사라는 직업을 배경에 두고 간호학을 선택하였지만, 간호학 선택 시 자신의 적성이나 소질 등을 고려하여 선택한다면 간호학 교육에 대한 흥미와 가치상승으로 전공에 대한 만족감이 높아지고 이는 전공수업에 대한 의욕이나 열의를 높이는 것으로 설명되었다. 따라서 대학진학 상담 과정에서 진학 학생 개인의 특성 등을 충분히 고려함으로써 국민 보건 향상에 기여하는 간호 핵심 역량을 키우는 실마리가 될 것이다.
