The purpose of this study was to find out how catering consultant capability affects consulting satisfaction and business performance of small business owners, and how active participation and consulting utilization of small business owners affects business performance via moderating effects according to the implementation factors of small business owners. To accomplish the purpose of this study theoretical study was conducted, a research model and hypotheses were established, and these hypotheses were tested using an empirical analysis.
The results are as follows; First, factor analysis was conducted for hypothesis testing, and in consequence, catering consultant capability has 3 factors of abilities, knowledge, and attitudes.
Second, the implementation factors of small business owners are participation and utilization. Participation factors are identifying problems, active participation, and responsiveness. Immediate action, future additional action, additional cooperation, and goal achievement are derived from utilization factors.
Third, It was identified that catering consultant capability had an influence on consultant satisfaction among consulting satisfaction of small business owners. Also it was identified that this result was similar to the results of Chong, Kap Su(2016), Kang, Sung Chon(2015), and Choi, Un Ha(2015)’ researches. In other words, it meant that if abilities, knowledge, and attitudes of consultants are more outstanding, satisfaction for consultants is higher. It also appeared to influence business performance of small business owners.
Fourth, management consulting satisfaction of small business owners had some on financial performance of small business owners.
Fifth, implementation factors of small business owners had some moderating effects on catering consultant capability and consulting satisfaction and business performance of small business owners. It appeared that if active participation and consulting utilization of small business owners were higher when small business owners were offered management consulting, consulting satisfaction for consultants is higher and business performance of small business owners is higher.
Sixth, It was identified that support process among consulting satisfaction of small business owners had no influence on the relationship between catering consultant capability and business performance of small business owners.
This study has an implication that if small business owners don’t participate in the consultation process, the effect of management consulting is minimal. Therefore, maximizing business performance of small business owners will be possible according to activeness of small business owners such as active participation of small business owners, actions for the results of consultation, identifying goal achievement, and demanding for additional cooperation from consultants.
