본 연구의 목적은 동기관리 프로그램과 점진적 근육이완법이 여대생의 지연행동, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움, 충동성, 자기 효능감에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 대학에 재학 중이며, 지연행동을 문제라고 여기는 여대생을 대상으로 학업적 착수-완수지연 척도를 실시하였다. 이중 완수지연 특성을 지닌 여대생을 선별하였고, 최종 선별된 61명은 무선할당을 통해 동기관리 집단에 21명, 점진적 근육이완 집단에 20명, 통제집단에 20명으로 할당하였다. 동기관리 집단과 점진적 근육이완법 집단은 각각 주 1회, 약 80분 씩 총 6회기의 동기관리 프로그램과 점진적 근육이완법 프로그램을 실시하였다. 동기관리 집단, 점진적 근육이완법 집단, 통제집단에게는 프로그램 전, 후에 사전검사와 사후검사를 실시하였으며, 동기관리 집단과 점진적 근육이완법 집단에게는 프로그램 종료 4주 후에 추후검사를 추가로 실시하였다. 측정도구로는 Aitken지연행동 척도(APS), 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움 척도(FNE), 다차원 충동성 척도(UPPS-P), 자기 효능감 척도를 사용하였다. 분석결과, 동기관리 집단과 점진적 근육이완법 집단이 통제집단에 비해 지연행동이 유의하게 감소하였고, 그 효과는 추후검사에서도 지속되었다. 또한 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움은 동기관리 집단이 통제집단과 비교하여 유의하게 감소하였고, 자기효능감은 동기관리 집단이 점진적 근육이완법 집단과 비교하여 유의하게 증가되었다. 충동성은 사전과 사후점수의 변화가 집단 간 차이가 없는 것으로 확인되었으나, 동기관리 집단은 사전대비 추후검사에서 충동성 총점과 하위요인 중 부정 긴급성, 계획성 부족에서 유의한 감소가 확인되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 후속 연구를 위한 제언이 논의되었다.
The purpose of this study was to prove the effect of Motivation Management Program and Progressive Muscle Relaxation on procrastination and its associated psychological factors in female university students. The participants in this study were university students who engaged in procrastination and assessed procrastination is a problem for them. 61 students were selected by AICPS(Academic Initiation - Completion Procrastination Scale) and assigned to 21 in the motivation management group, 20 in the progressive muscle relaxation group, and 20 in control group. The Motivation Management program and Progressive Muscle Relaxation program were administered for 6 sessions (80 minutes each, once a week). The motivation management group, progressive muscle relaxation group and control group completed pre-test, post-test. In addition, motivation management group and progressive muscle relaxation group completed 4 weeks follow-up test. As the measurement tool, the researcher used Aitken Procrastination Scale(APS), Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale(FNE), the UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale(UPPS-P), and General Self-Efficacy Scale. As the result of analysis, procrastination was significantly decreased in both the motivation management group and the progressive muscle relaxation group compared to the control group, and the effect kept on the follow-up test. Fear of negative evaluation was significantly decreased in the motivation management group compared to the control group, and self-efficacy was significantly increased in the motivation management group compared to the progressive muscle relaxation group. On post-test, the scores of Impulsivity in the motivation management group and the progressive muscle relaxation group were no significant change. However, in the motivation management group, 4 weeks follow-up test showed significant decreases of the score in total UPPS, negative urgency, and lack of premeditation. Finally, implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
