This research study compared the reading comprehension monitoring abilities between that of children with high-function spectrum autism and that of children without autism, and examined the differences between the comprehension monitoring types (topic consistency, external consistency, internal consistency) within each test group.9 children with high-functioning autism and 12 children without autism were given a body of text to conduct an error detection test where the children were asked to find significant errors and explain the reasons for the errors. The results showed that children with high-functioning autism scored lower in all comprehension monitoring abilities compared to children without autism. Also when comparing the abilities between the comprehension monitoring types for each test group, the children without autism did not show differences between the comprehension monitoring types, but children with high-functioning autism had a lower internal consistency reliability than that of the other two comprehension monitoring types. There was no significant difference in the topic consistency reliability and external consistency reliability.Based on the results of this research the difficulties of reading comprehension monitoring abilities observed in children with high-function spectrum autism were discussed in relation with the integrated information processing abilities and deductive reasoning abilities of children with high-function spectrum autism disablity. Keywords: high-function spectrum autism, reading comprehension monitoring, reading comprehension
