대구 근교의 농촌지역 중학생의 식습관 및 영양 상태를 알아보고자 13~15세의 남?여 중학생 총 181명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 남학생의 평균 신장과 체중은 164.9 cm, 57.6 kg이었고, 여학생의 평균 신장과 체중은 157.6 cm, 51.1 kg이었다. 남 여학생 모두 대중매체를 통해서 영양지식을 습득한다는 비율이 가장 높게 나타났고, 영양지식을 실천하는 정도는 여학생이 남학생 보다 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 아침식사는 11.05%가 주 2회 이하로 섭취하였고 아침을 거르는 이유는 시간부족이 67.74%로 가장 많았고, 식사속도는 남학생은 5~10분, 여학생은 10~15분에 가장 비율이 높았고 이것은 남녀학생 간 유의적인 차이를 나타내었다(p<0.001). 영양소 섭취에서는 남녀학생 모두 에너지, 식이섬유, 비타민 C, 리보플라빈, 엽산, 칼슘의 섭취량이 권장섭취량에 미치지 못하였으며 칼슘은 특히 매우 부족하게 섭취하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 남학생은 여학생보다 에너지, 탄수화물, 비타민 D, 비타민 C, 리보플라빈, 비타민 B6, 칼슘의 섭취량이 권장섭취량에 비하여 유의적으로 낮았고, 여학생은 남학생보다 비타민 A, 철의 섭취량이 권장섭취량에 비하여 유의적으로 낮은 것으로 나타났다.
Eating habits and nutritional status of middle school students in rural areas around the suburbs of Daegu was investigated with total 181 subjects (13~15 year old male and female middle school students). The average height and body weight were 164.9 cm and 57.6 kg for male students and 157.6 cm and 51.1 kg for female students, respectively. It was shown that both male and female students most frequently obtained nutritional knowledge via mass communication. The level of the nutritional knowledge practice was significantly higher in female students than that of male students (p<0.05). Total 11.05% of the students had breakfast less than 2 times a week. The lack of time was the most common reason (67.74%) why they skipped breakfast. Most of the male and female students had meals for 5~10 minutes and 10~15 minutes, respectively, indicating that there was statistically significant difference observed between male and female students (p<0.001). For nutrient intake, energy, fiber, vitamin C, riboflavin, folic acid, and calcium intake in both male and female students were not met the recommended daily intake particularly, calcium intake was significantly low. It was observed that intake of energy, carbohydrate, vitamin D, vitamin C, riboflavin, vitamin B6, and calcium was significantly lower in male students than that of female students when compared to the recommendedintake. Intake of vitamin A and iron in female students was significantly lower than that of male students as compared to the recommended daily intake. Given the results, 11.5% and 12.6% of the middle school students skipped their breakfast and dinner more than 4 times a week, respectively. It was exhibited that 5~10 minutes and 10~15 minutes were the most common as meal duration for male and female students, respectively. Moreover, both male and female students didn’t meet the recommended daily intake for energy, fiber, vitamin C, riboflavin, folic acid, and calcium intake especially, calcium intake was considerably low compared to the daily recommended intake. Therefore, education regarding eating breakfast, slow eating, and calcium intake would be needed for the middle school students.
