Analogy is an important figure of speech in human language. In modern Chinese, “X也似” is one of the most commonly used analogies, but research on this aspect is scarce compared to other Chinese analogy particles. According to the study, the “X也似” structure appeared most frequently in the Yuan and Ming dynasties. Although it has been eliminated in modern Chinese, its role and significance in the development of Chinese analogy sentences cannot be ignored. Thus, it is necessary to study it systematically. Only by doing so can we more clearly and scientifically reveal the diachronic development process and appearance of Chinese analogy sentence patterns. In the period of modern Chinese, “X也似” is the main analogy sentence pattern, which was excellent in both ease of use and diversity of expression. This paper systematically examines the usage of “X也似” structure in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties when it was most active, as well as in the Qing Dynasty when the sentence pattern was eliminated. The semantic and structural features during these periods are analyzed, as well as the changes that it underwent over time. The whole process of the “X也似” sentence pattern from its development to elimination has been systematically observed, hoping to become the basic reference for the diachronic study of Chinese analogy sentences.
