The need to pay attention to what African scholars have done over the decades in trying to re-define the existence and reality of the religions of the African through ethnographic studies. A lot has been achieved, but there is still much to be done in the area of dialogue between Christianity and the religions of the Africans. This article provides data for writers based on possible dialogue between the religion of the Yoruba called Àdìmúlà and Christianity by comparing the ‘vocation’, ‘function’, ‘place/role’ of the Babaláwo and the Catholic priest in the Yoruba Community. This is an empirical study; selected Babaláwo and Catholic priests were interviewed on the aim of the study, and the findings were complemented using existing literature. One of the effective methods of rediscovering the religions of the Africans is to compare categories found in the religions of the Africans with neo-religions, in order to show areas of similarities and differences. Thishelps in explaining the differences and provide reliable data for drama production in the bid to promote peaceful co-existence.
