This study examines the relationship between self-leadership and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in the context of community-based education, specifically focusing on the Maul Education Community in Yangsan, South Korea. The objective is to explore how self-leadership influences OCB, considering variables such as gender, age, and educational background. A total of 236 participants completed a survey that included 48 questions measuring self-leadership, OCB, and demographic characteristics. The data were analyzed using SPSS, employing statistical methods such as frequency analysis, factor analysis, and multiple regression. The findings revealed that gender and age had limited effects on the dimensions of OCB, and no significant differences were found in self-leadership across these groups. Educational background, however, had a significant impact on both self-leadership and OCB, with higher levels of education correlating with stronger self-leadership strategies. The results emphasize the importance of fostering self-leadership within community education settings to improve organizational culture and encourage active participation in the Maul Education Community. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how self-leadership can enhance positive organizational behaviors and offers valuable insights for those working to activate organizational culture within community-driven educational frameworks.
