With the availability of advanced therapeutic options such asDBS, the need for high doses of medication with adverse effectsand off-label medication has decreased. However, in resourcelimitedsettings, when DBS is financially less viable or in the interimperiod before DBS, a neurologist is left with limited options.
Considering the patient’s significant disability and inabilityto receive DBS at that point in time, we opted for haloperidoltreatment. Haloperidol may not be the preferred choice for longtermtreatment of DYT-TOR1A due to its side effect profile.
