The purpose of this study was to analyze university student reports and to explore the extent to which they observed the principles and regulations of "quotation". The correctness of "quotation" means that it complies well with the form of writing, as well as related to learning ethics and reliability. It is an important part of the writing of the academic community. Writing classes at universities are usually conducted for freshmen who are unfamiliar with "quotations." Therefore, classes should be conducted through the recognition-theory-practice and inspection process. Classes were conducted step by step, but the results were not satisfactory. I analyzed the five reports I submitted and looked for the real figure. The results can be summarized in two. First, the perception of citations is not detailed and specific. There is a perception that quotes must be made. However, the perception of the quotation method is not clear. They don't even know where to put the footnote number or not to disclose the source. If the source is not disclosed, it will be plagiarized, and if the footnote number is incorrectly located, it will be impossible to grasp the scope of the quotation, resulting in the meaning of the quotation fading. Second, there is a lack of understanding of direct and indirect quotations. Primary data, statistical data, literary works, etc. should be quoted directly, and other indirect quotes should be used. Indirect quotations can be presented by summarizing the overall meaning and presenting difficult contents through simple expressions. Both are difficult and difficult compared to direct quotations. In students' reports, indirect citations are required, but most of them choose the method of quoting directly. On the other hand, it is formally indirectly quoted. As a result, existing discussions have been established in terms of content, but side effects such as mixing opinions of the original author and the author or giving the impression that only the author's opinions are presented. This point also results in the fading of the meaning of the quotation.

본 고찰은 대학생 리포트를 분석하여 ‘인용하기’의 원칙과 규정을 어느 정도 지키고 있는가를 살피려는 데에 목적을 두고 있었다. ‘인용하기’를 올바로 한다는 것은 글쓰기의 형식을 잘 준수하고 있다는 의미는 물론 학습 윤리, 신뢰성과 관련된다. 학술 공동체 글쓰기에서 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 대학 글쓰기 수업은 대개 ‘인용하기’를 낯설게 여기는 신입생을 대상으로 이루어진다. 그래서 인식-이론-실습과 점검의 과정을 통해 수업이 이루어져야 한다. 단계별로 수업을 진행했지만 결과는 만족스럽지 못하였다. 제출한 리포트 5개를 분석하여 그 실상을 살펴보았다. 결과를 두 가지로 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 인용하기에 대한 인식이 세밀하고 구체적이지 못하다는 점이다. 인용을 해야 한다는 인식은 있다. 그러나 인용 방식에 대한 인식은 선명하지 못하다. 출처를 밝히지 않는다든가, 각주 번호를 어디에 달아야 한다든가 하는 데까지 인식이 미치지 않는다. 출처를 밝히지 않으면 표절이 되고, 각주 번호 위치가 올바르지 못하면 인용의 범위 파악이 불가능해져서 인용의 의미가 퇴색되어 버리는 결과를 낳는다. 둘째, 직접과 간접 인용하기에 대한 이해가 부족하다. 1차 자료, 통계 자료, 문학 작품 등은 ‘직접 인용하기’를, 그 외는 ‘간접 인용하기’를 해야 한다. ‘간접 인용하기’는 전체의 의미를 요약하여 제시하는 것과 어려운 내용을 쉬운 표현을 통해 제시하는 방법이 있다. 둘 다 직접 인용에 비해 까다로워 수고로움이 많다. 학생들의 리포트에서는 ‘간접 인용하기’를 해야 하는데 ‘직접 인용하기’ 방식을 택하는 경우가 대부분이다. 그러면서도 형식적으로는 ‘간접 인용하기’ 방식을 취하고 있다. 그러다 보니 내용상 기존 논의를 짜깁기한 것이 되는데, 원 저자와 글쓴이의 견해가 혼재하게 되거나 글쓴이의 견해만을 제시하고 있는 듯한 느낌을 주는 등의 부작용이 생긴다. 이 점 역시 인용의 의미가 퇴색해 버리는 결과를 낳는다. 이러한 실상을 공유하여 좀 더 효율적인 수업 방안을 고민하는 계기가 될 것을 기대한다.
