The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a Mexican endemic species, well known for having exceptional regenerative qualities and its critical preservation. This monograph explores the Ajolote’s relevance in Mexican culture, its impact on science and ecological conservation, including the future of the challenges in its preservation. The ajolote is not only a biological and fascinating species, but also has a significant impact on Mexican society from different perspectives: cultural, economic, and social. The influence goes beyond the role of biodiversity and affects the financial, educational, and the current Mexican cultural identity.
