This article began with the intention of identifying the mechanism of colonial language invasion from a sociolinguistic perspective and the sociolinguistic meaning of the Korean language purification movement as a method of resistance to the invasion of the Korean language during Japanese colonial rule. According to the position of linguistic sociology, a field of sociolinguistics, the problem of colonial language invasion is closely related to language ideology and linguistic influence, that is, language power. The phenomenon of invasion of the Korean language during Japanese colonial rule can also be explained in a new way in this context.
