The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of tourism participation consisting of quantitative and qualitative participation on positive attitudes and the effects of positive attitudes on life satisfaction. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, hypotheses were set and tested. The survey selected three four-year universities and one junior college in Busan and analyzed 203 students attending these universities. Regression analysis was conducted for hypothesis testing. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, participation in tourism, which consists of quantitative and qualitative participation, had a significant effect on positive attitude. Second, positive attitude was found to affect life satisfaction. These results can provide the following implications. First, there was a positive relationship between tourism participation, positive attitude and life satisfaction. In addition, the more frequent participation in tourism, the more likely it is to form a more positive attitude. Second, the government and local governments need to introduce active tourism participation policies, and each family needs to actively encourage their children to participate in tourism. Third, positive perspective has an effect on both qualitative and quantitative participation, but qualitative participation has a stronger effect. Fourth, self-acceptance has a relatively strong effect on both quantitative and qualitative participation. Fifth, social acceptance has a relatively strong influence only on qualitative participation. Sixth, all components of positive attitude have a significant effect on life satisfaction. Therefore, educational institutions and media-related institutions need to convey that life satisfaction is more affected by internal factors.
