In this paper, the recapitulative reformulation markers en resumen, en resumidas cuentas and en conclusión are analyzed from a pragmatic and cognitive perspective. For the analysis, the Relevance Theory(Sperber & Wilson 1995 [1986]; Wilson 2011, 2016; Carston 2016; Murillo 2016; Escandell-Vidal 2020) has been applied as a theoretical framework, as well as the definition of Portolés(2016) regarding the aforementioned reformulation markers. The result of this paper demonstrates, despite the elements considered are often presented as synonyms in Spanish dictionaries and are employed without differentiating their specific uses, the lexical units related with [resumen] and [conclusion] have their distinctive functions or roles in the process of interpretation, and they can be explained when used the selected pragmatic-cognitive approach.
