The Transformation of Dance in the Era of Generative AI Jun He Rim (Kookmin Univ.) This study aims to explore the impact and changes that generative AI technology, which is bringing innovation to the art field, will have on the field of dance. To this end, literature review and FGI (Focus Group Interview) with AI experts were utilized as the main research methods. In the literature review, the concepts of artificial intelligence and generative AI, as well as cases of their application in the art field, were examined. Additionally, previous studies on the convergence of dance and AI were reviewed to identify their significance and limitations. In the FGI, semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven AI experts to gather their opinions on the changes and potential applications of generative AI in the field of dance. The research results suggest that generative AI is expected to trigger changes in various areas of dance art, such as collaborating with robots, expanding business through a one-source multi-use strategy, differentiating performances, supporting choreography creation and practice processes and preserving dance as an intangible cultural heritage. This study can be evaluated as a timely attempt to complement the limitations of previous studies and envision future changes in the field of dance amidst the rapid development of AI technology. It is hoped that follow-up studies will continue to explore the convergence of dance and AI technology and seek educational and policy measures.
