This study analyzes and compares the architects’ mutual aid systems in Korea and Germany from various perspectives to enhance understanding and explore ways to improve the Korean system. In both countries, there are similarities and differences in the roles of architects, public perceptions, and potential occupational risks. In Korea, preparations for these risks are legally defined, with the mutual aid association handling the specifics. In Germany, only the overall limits and the obligation to subscribe to liability compensation are outlined by law, leaving specific details unspecified. These differences allow Germany to respond quickly and flexibly to market changes and consumer demands, such as developing new products and improving existing ones. In contrast, Korea’s approach provides more stability, protecting subscribers and preventing potential losses. Both systems have strengths and weaknesses, shaped by their respective market environments and social conditions, and can be adapted to address specific needs. Considering Korea’s situation and the need for improvements, the mutual aid system should evolve to better align with local realities, drawing insights from Germany’s architect liability insurance.
