With technological development and the continuous improvement of productivity, family automobiles have gradually become daily consumer goods for ordinary families. The appearance of automobiles appears as a crucial factor in judging whether ordinary families purchase them or not. The application of user-perceived quality in evaluating product quality has increased; thus, it is particularly important to explore family automobiles’ appearance design from the perspective of user-perceived quality. Therefore, this study conducted an in-depth analysis of relevant theories and clarified how the appearance factors of family automobiles affect users’ perceived quality of the appearance of family automobiles. The research used empirical methods such as case analysis and questionnaire surveys to conduct in-depth investigations on user groups of different ages to collect preference data for the appearance design of family automobiles and analyze the influence of users’ perceived quality of the appearance of automobiles, and, based on the findings, construct optimization strategies for the appearance design of automobiles. Research has indicated that material, style, proportion, and color are factors affecting the appearance of family automobiles. Similarly, the current study’s findings found a significant positive(+) relationship between material, style, and proportion and users’ perceived quality of the appearance design of automobiles. Hence, optimization strategies for the appearance design of family automobiles are proposed, providing valuable theoretical support and practical suggestions for automotive design.
