This study aims to conceptualize mindful leadership and develop a scale to measure it. Mindful leadership is defined as a leader’s intentionally paying attention to and being aware of his/her work and the internal and external circumstances of the organization, demonstrating a flexible approach to work without attachment, and encouraging awareness and flexible work attitudes among their team members. The study identified that mindful leadership comprises three components: work attention and awareness (WAA), flexible work attitude (FWA), and facilitation of organizational awareness (FOA). This construct was accurately measured using 15 items, accounting for 78.84% of the total variance. The three-factor model of mindful leadership proved to be the most. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the construct’s reliability, validity, and convergent-discriminant validity. Comparative model fit analysis demonstrated that mindful leadership is distinct from transformational leadership and authentic leadership. Moreover, mindful leadership significantly influenced leader trust and organizational commitment. Even when accounting for transformational and authentic leadership, mindful leadership significantly impacted leader trust and organizational commitment. This indicates that mindful leadership includes unique aspects that are not covered by transformational and authentic leadership. This research lays the academic groundwork for further exploration and application of mindful leadership in organizational settings.
