The Gujeong was built on the basis of the Myeongdang mentioned by Dosun when Taejo made the palace, not in Cheorwon, Gung Ye. The name was given to Guja, meaning a flat and wide garden in front of Songak-Myeongdang. The Goryeo Dynasty mystified and sanctified Songak-Myongdang located on Songaksan Mountain and its southern side. And it was intended to symbolize that it is a space protected by the land virtue not only by the world of Jeseokcheon or Byeolsingseon(別神仙), which is called the world of Buddha and God, but also by feng shui. The Gujeong served as another Myeongdang for these Songak Myeongdang. In the end, these contents show the status of the Gujeong space including Uibongmunru. First, it had political and Ritual implications, such as the Kibok(祈福) of Buddha and gods, Kiyang(祈禳), and Banseung(飯僧), second, Deokeum(德音) for the edification of the people and a decree of amnesty, third, checking the hierarchy through Johoe(朝會, court conference), and fourth, Hyehwa(惠和) who seeks harmony by giving grace to the people, fifth, military parade(閱兵) for a national crisis, and seventh, Confirmation of the high status of the monarch above the Uibongru. The establishment of this symbolism meant that Gujeong became a space of divinity and harmony where the Buddha and gods, monarchs and servants, and people meet.
