This study presented a plan from an environmental design and urban design perspective as a way to reduce the lack of green space and parks in Seongsu-dong and reduce risks in the pedestrian environment and provide convenience. The advantages of creating a ‘linear green park’ dividing the proposed space, a demarcated city block, are as follows. First, the existing pedestrian path was dangerous due to the weak boundary and distinction between the roadway and the pedestrian path, but by providing a pedestrian path only for pedestrians, they can use a safer and more comfortable walking path. Second, it can be used as a green park and shortcut, providing convenience to people gathered for various purposes and encouraging contact, contributing to regional revitalization. Third, pedestrian paths were created in the horizontal direction, east and west. Depending on the direction, the amount of sunlight entering the pedestrian path changes, affecting the comfort of pedestrians and the growth of green plants. In the end, good urban design brings about efficient and positive changes in pedestrian movement behavior. The proposed plan used Seongsu-dong as a representative example, but it can be applied to any urban space and pedestrian environment with a similar structure.
