This study aims to create fantasy designs that harmonize with daily life by heterogeneously combining design resources derived from everyday experiences. Fantasy design offers people new and unreal experiences through expressions that transcend the common requirements in design, such as logic, rationality, and functionality, conveying unfamiliarity and eccentricity. However, overly unfamiliar forms aimed at expressing the mystery of fantasy can convey visual discomfort or fail to harmonize with the reality of space. In this way, deviant and hybrid expressions convey both novelty and unfamiliarity, but when appropriately utilized, they can serve as key resources in creating fantasy design. Accordingly, this study explores the possibilities of creating fantasy designs that harmonize with living spaces and bring freshness by combining heterogeneous elements in a complementary manner. In order to create fantasy designs that harmonize with everyday life, Firstly, through a literature review on the definition of fantasy, an exploration was made to understand the characteristics of fantasy, which is widely used in various contexts with diverse meanings. Secondly, through an investigation of fantasy borrowing cases in the fields of literature, music, fashion, and art, this study examines the patterns of expression involving making everyday things unfamiliar and juxtaposing heterogeneous elements. Thirdly, through a case study of fantasy design, it was discovered that heterogeneous elements interacted complementarily, expressing not just one-dimensional unfamiliarity but rather creating new aesthetic and functional values. Lastly, through design experimentations, this study proposed fantasy design that conveys positive emotions by combining heterogeneous design resources derived from the researcher''s everyday experiences, with each element interacting complementarily. This study is meaningful in exploring the direction and the possibility of creating fantasy designs that harmonize with daily life by applying fantasy, often perceived as detached from reality, to design, thus creating new design values and conveying positive emotions.
