The purpose of this study is to propose a customization of a CMF design process model that responds to changing manufacturing production technologies and various needs of customers. Manufacturing, which has come through industrial revolutions such as mechanized mass production, and global production, has undergone a major change due to the serviceitazation of manufacturing and the diversity of customer needs with the advent of the 4th industrial revolution. The market is demanding emotionally satisfying products that reflect individual tastes, which can be responded effectively and efficiently with CMF design, increasing its importance, and it is necessary to establish a process for this. First, the study investigated cases of customized production types due to the servitization of manufacturing through theoretical consideration of manufacturing innovation and analyzed them based on the product development process. Second, from the perspective linked to CMF design in the analyzed data, customized CMF design was classified into optional and co-creative types, and the contents of each process were summarized through case studies accordingly. Third, a customization of a CMF design process model was proposed based on the existing CMF design process, and its characteristics were defined. Customized CMF design should be managed integrally through customer data, from planning, design, and development to purchase and service support. In addition, it can be seen that CMF designers change into a role of supporting and consulting customer-centered processes by preparing various alternatives as experts. The proposed process model has a limitation in that it must be derived and continuously systematized from the customer-customized CMF design case that is being tried in advance, but it is meaningful to present the basic concept of the new CMF design development process and organize the activities and contents performed at each stage.
