This study shows the process and implementation of Hanguel Interactive Typography, which uses consonant letters as basic element. In order to reflect the character building principles of consonant letters such as Five Elements, Gahaek and Iche principle into our piece, we have researched and analyzed Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon JaeJahae and defined the interrelationship of different theories. Taking advantage of the flexible characteristics of interactive media, we have integrated the Gahaek and Iche principle which explains the relationship between basic consonant letters and letters derived from the basic consonant letters. Also, visual elements and the sound effects were used to express the spirit of the Five Elements. By using mouse, keyboard, and microphone input, we have created an interactive typography piece that reflects the special characteristics of Hangul. Through this work, I expect more diverse interactive typography work to be created that reflects theories set forth in Hunminjeongeum.
