Purpose: In this study, field data were used to update the IPS elements, and the output of the corresponding element was updated and applied to an “A” system from a total life cycle management perspective to determine future development directions.
Methods: By applying the stockpile reliability “A” system, the reliability was updated and the preventive maintenance period was recalculated. Based on the updated reliability, the amount of repair parts was predicted using the Poisson process method, and the total life cycle cost was recalculated by using the OPUS Suite.
Results: The reliability recalculated through field data was approximately twice as high as before, and based on this reliability, the preventive maintenance period increased and the calculated amount of repair parts decreased. As a result of updating the IPS elements using field data, the total life cycle cost was reduced by 16%.
Conclusion: When the IPS elements were updated by refluxing the data obtained in the operations & sustainment phase, a significant change was confirmed in terms of maintenance period and total life cycle cost. Therefore, weapon system management using field data is an effective approach.
