This study analyzes the use of exclamatory sentences in Korean and English texts, both original and translated, from parallel corpora. By examining natural exclamatory expressions in spoken language, it aims to identify patterns in translated texts, revealing complexities in cognitive processing. It challenges traditional grammatical classifications of exclamatory sentences, particularly regarding the frequent use of exclamation marks across different sentence types. This finding indicates that classifying exclamatory sentences solely based on grammatical endings is inadequate, emphasizing the need for a semantic and functional approach to understand better and categorize exclamatory expressions. This suggests a need for a semantic and functional approach to understanding and categorizing exclamatory expressions. The research provides new insights into exclamatory sentence usage, proposing new categorizations and serving as a valuable reference for future studies.
