This study analyzed domestic research on incontinence panties and trends in incontinence panty-related patents, utility models, and design rights. By doing this, the study aimed to guide future research on incontinence management products and provide essential data for designing incontinence panties specifically for the older adult market, often referred to as the silver industry. Analysis of academic research related to incontinence panties showed that incontinence panty research has the highest percentage in the field of clothing science, and the research period had shown an increasing trend since 2016 when Korea approached an aging society. The most common research topics were actual situation surveys and commercial product analysis studies. More research needed to be done on product development, materials, and marketing aspects of incontinence panties, such as purchase decision factors and product selection attributes. The majority of research methods were survey and analytical studies. According to the International Patent Classification (IPC), the classification of patents and utility models is as follows: daily necessities in Section A; processing operations and transportation in Section B; chemistry and metallurgy in Section C; textiles and tributaries in Section D; mechanical engineering, lighting, heating, weapons, and blasting in Section F; physics in Section G; and electricity in Section H. Various fields of technology are used to manufacture urinary incontinence panties. According to the international classification codes, incontinence panties were classified as underwear, lingerie, footwear, socks and stockings, boxes, cases, physicians, hospital and laboratory equipment and instruments, wound care, nursing, and medical supplies.
