This study analyzed the research trend based on studies on beauty field published between 2005 and 2016 in Korean journals related to beauty and fashion, in order to propose a direction for beauty research and provide basic data for relevant studies. The result of analysis of studies on beauty field published in relevant journals between 2005 and 2016 by academic society, year of publication, and period of research showed that, among 3,752 studies, 1,389 (37.02%) were published in Journal of Korean Society of Cosmetology, 932 (24.86%) by Korean Society for Aesthetics and Cosmetology, and 653 (17.43%) by Journal of the Korean Society of Beauty and Art. Studies related to cosmetology were divided into different types and subjects, i.e., makeup, hair, skin, basic science, hair product development, cosmetology history, beauty marketing, and cosmetology education. The findings in this study suggest the research subjects are concentrated on certain areas. As beauty education is being actively provided in different departments and institutions, Research on subjects combined with different fields can contribute to qualitative development of the beauty industry and education.
