The number of Muslim tourists visiting Korea was 384,710 in 2010. Afterwards, amid continuous growth, Korea has entered the era of 1 million Muslim tourists, reaching 1,068,705 in 2019. One of the main reasons for the continuous increase in the number of Muslim tourists visiting Korea before the COVID-19 pandemic is the Muslim-friendly restaurant rating system project implemented by the Korea Tourism Organization. This project was promoted to provide correct food information to Muslim tourists visiting Korea with a full understanding of the distinction between foods that Muslims can eat and foods that cannot be eaten according to Shariah Islamic law, and received a positive response from Muslim tourists visiting Korea. However, the project, which was divided into five stages and implemented by the Korea Tourism Organization, began to be carried out by reducing it to four stages. As a result, the Korea Tourism Organization provides false restaurant information to Muslims visiting Korea against their religious beliefs. This study aims to identify which areas are problematic in the four-stage changed classification trough Islamic Sharia view and propose how to improve them to avoid argument from Muslims visiting Korea and to attract more Muslim tourists to Korea by providing halal food convenience.
