The semantic system of modern Chinese sensory adjectives is rich, and the same word can represent the cognitive content across multiple perceptual domains. Touch is the most intuitive and universal sensory perception, the most direct and specific source of human perceptual experience, and one of the basic cognitive domains. Tactile adjectives play a very important role in the study of Chinese sensory words. This paper takes the sensory adjective “ruan” as the research object to sort out the semantic derivation of “ruan” from the diachronic perspective, trace back the semantic source, grasp the diachronic evolution process of the semantic, and from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, guided by the conceptual metaphor theory, studies the mechanism of its meaning extension, combining the prototype category and the central member theory. Focusing on the central typical member of the category modified by “ruan”, the logic of its semantic construction is analyzed from the perspective of conceptualization, and the mechanism of its semantic derivation is discussed.
