A Study on the Cultural Competence of Korea andChina Nursing StudentsHee Moon, Chunja Sun, & Dongmei Li
Abstract: The purpose of this research was to identify the cultural ability level of nursing students in Korea and China, and to provide basic data for improving the cultural ability of nursing students. The survey was conducted on first and second-year nursing students of 176 from Korea and China. Data were analyzed for frequency, mean and standard deviation, and independent sample t-test using the IBM SPSS 27.0. We identified the cultural ability level of nursing students in Korea and China and the difference in cultural ability according to sociodemographic characteristics. The higher the grade, the higher the level of cultural sensitivity, cultural skills, and cultural knowledge of Korea nursing students. Among China nursing students, male students had higher levels of cultural awareness, cultural sensitivity, and cultural skill levels than female students, and students who were able to communicate in a foreign language had higher levels of cultural awareness than another. Therefore, to strengthen cultural competence, we suggested developing programs that students can directly experience and multicultural education programs.
