The purpose of this study is to evaluate the fairness and effectiveness of the Korean government’s management of the risks faced by potentially declining industries and labor during the energy transition. The researcher used Goddard and Farrelly’s(2018) analysis frame, which combines the perspectives of ‘transition management’ and ‘just transition,’ to assess the policy. The evaluation was conducted using both primary and secondary data on Korea’s energy transition. The results showed that the government has established a policy vision, and is seeking policy instruments to support the transition. However, there are areas for improvement, such as increasing the representativeness of participants, improving the independence and practical operation of committee organizations, establishing policy instruments, gathering current data and reflecting it in policies, fostering social dialogue and consensus, ensuring sufficient resource allocation for social protection, and enhancing the effectiveness of mid- to long-term policies. The study also provides policy recommendations.
