Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1950, Spain and Korea have maintained friendly and reciprocal relationships in various areas and had eventually agreed to upgrade their bilateral ties to a ‘strategic partnership’ in 2021. Korea and Spain, both considered ‘middle-power states’, are prominent examples of countries that actively engage in public diplomacy, especially cultural diplomacy. They strive to bolster soft power via these activities by informing and disseminating their appeal and attractiveness based on cultural and historical assets and winning policy support from the global public. These two countries, in particular, seek direct connection with the people of the other country through ‘digital public diplomacy’, which has been made possible by the advent of social media. In this context, this study primarily aims to examine and evaluate how Spain and Korea conduct public diplomacy through social media, namely via the official Facebook pages of their respective embassies in Madrid and Seoul. This study employed an automated text mining approach, including keyword analysis and CONvergence of iterated CORrelations (CONCOR) analysis. The findings of the keyword and CONCOR analysis indicated that the two nations are promoting ‘public cultural diplomacy’, using their own cultural assets, as part of digital public diplomacy.
