The 'present' of the 21st century, in which we live, is a new period that we have never experienced before, to the extent that the so-called 'unprecedented' word fits perfectly. The justification for studying the music scene here and now is not only because the speed of change is fast, but also because the flow is constant. This paper discusses why research on the music scenes is conducted here and now, why it is meaningful, which scene is the academic subject of research and why, in which direction future work should be pursued, and how music scene research is distinctly different from other types of research. It draws out and answers various expected critical minds, such as a distinct methodology, discussion method, and whether there is a normative form, and provides results for thinking in connection with new problems in music scene research. What are the expectations we have for research in the music scene, but how well the researchers respond to them is the question in the second half of this thesis. The works attempted to diagnose the current status of the study are, first, the mapping job that induces a systematic approach by classifying the various essential elements, composition, organization, conditions, functions, and activities that make the approach of various music sites exist. The second is to analyze the academic data of music scene research using the name of the representative music genre here and now as keywords in the database provided by the library to understand the actual situation. Through these processes, the final task of this paper, which diagnoses the current status of music scene research here and now, is to present signs that are not readily apparent with other approaches in the changing music culture of the 21st century.
