Existing Internet-based systems are changing to mobile-oriented as smartphones are popularized around the world and the penetration rate increases. Meanwhile, thanks to the activation of the mobile payment system and the expansion of the market, consumers can easily purchase or use products or services through mobile devices without any location or time limit, and many companies are making efforts to introduce a more flexible mobile payment system to increase their new global market share. In this situation, research that empirically understands how the characteristics of the mobile payment system affect user satisfaction is considered to be very meaningful.
This study empirically identified the impact of mobile payment system characteristics(security, compatibility, efficiency, economy, and reliability) on user satisfaction for Korean and Chinese mobile payment system users, and furthermore, how the relationship between the characteristics and user satisfaction varies depending on the individual"s innovation and social impact.
