The purpose of this study is to establish the concept of joint leadership and seek joint leadership education measures, and to this end, leadership theory, military doctrine, and the case of the U.S. military were studied. The research method mainly reviewed the literature, and interviews with the person in charge of each military leadership center were used as an auxiliary.
As results of this study, first, the joint leadership of the Korean military is to influence members of joint organization that consists of the Army, Navy and Air Force to achieve national security goals or military strategy goals, and the capabilities required for the joint leader can take into account eight basic capabilities and six joint capabilities. Second, it is desirable to implement joint leadership education in the Korean military in integration with military education throughout the entire military life, and it is the most realistic to supplement and apply the current framework of joint education developmentally. It is reasonable to educate the basic competencies of joint leadership through leadership education in each military department, and to focus on joint competencies in joint education.
