This study was conducted to examine the correlation of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) distress, coping flexibility, perceived stress and depression, and to verify the moderation effect of the coping flexibility in the relationship between COVID-19 distress and perceived stress, and depression. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 206 adults in J city from August 2 to 17, 2022. Data were analyzed using Hierarchical regression analysis and a simple model of PROCESS macro. As a result, coping flexibility moderated the relationship between COVID-19 distress and perceived stress. In particular, at high COVID-19 distress level, participants with high coping flexibility had lower perceived stress compared to those with low coping flexibility. Enhancing coping flexibility can be used as a strategy for reducing perceived stress. Therefore, we suggested education for coping flexibility and developing a strategy for improving coping flexibility.
