This study systemically reviewed welfare attitude research conducted in Korea over the past 13 years, during which rapid institutional expansion occurred. The purpose of this study is to examine the definition and conceptualization of welfare attitudes, investigate the influencing factors, and explore ways to expand research on welfare attitudes in Korea. Based on PRISMA guidelines, a search was conducted for Korean literature on welfare attitudes, welfare perception, and welfare consciousness using search terms from January 2010 to November 2022. The selected literature was evaluated for bias risk in terms of quality assessment, and a total of 33 literature were finally analyzed. The findings of this study are as follows. First, we examined the general characteristics of the major academic fields, materials used, sample sizes, and analysis methods employed in Korean welfare attitude research. Second, we found that welfare attitudes in Korea were defined and operationalized differently across the literature. Third, it was revealed that micro, meso, and macro factors in welfare attitude verification have been tested in various ways depending on the research questions. Based on these results, the future research direction and necessity of welfare attitudes, which are crucial to the continuous development of the welfare state in Korea, are discussed.
