Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of self-efficacy, major satisfaction on nursing professionalism of nursing students.
Methods: This was a descriptive study. Participants were 305 college students in G city. The data were collected from April 1 to April 25, 2016, and the self-report questionnaires include Self-Esteem Scale, Major Satisfaction Scale and Nursing Professionalism Scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression.
Results: Self-efficacy showed significant differences in gender and circle activities. Major satisfaction showed significant differences in grade level. Nursing professionalism showed significant differences in age. The major satisfaction was found to be a positive correlations with self-efficacy and nursing professionalism. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the significant predictors of nursing professionalism were self-efficacy, major satisfaction, and grade level accounted for 34% of the variance.
Conclusion: It is necessary to develop educational operation programs and teaching methods of professors of nursing professionalism that consider their self-efficacy, grade level, and major satisfaction for the nursing students.
