The purpose of this research is to find out the direct and indirect effects of mother's antenatal/postpartum depression and parenting stress on infant development. The results are as follows: First, mother's antenatal depression had a significant direct effect on mother's postpartum depression and indirect effect on mother's parenting stress and infant development through mother's postpartum depression. Second, mother's postpartum depression had a negative indirect impact on infant's development through mother's parenting stress for two years of infanthood. Third, mother's parenting stress had a significant negative direct effect on infant development. Considering all, we concluded that mother's depression had a negative impact on infant development when it lasts longer and causes parenting stress. Therefore, early intervention for mother's antenatal/postpartum depression is needed.
