In this study, to find out if there is any function to prevent the hair damage by the activate oxygen generated during the chemical hair treatment, the clove, which is the natural material having effective anti-oxidation effect and containing the small amount of amino-acid, was used. After producing the essence, it was used before and after the continuous treatment of the permanent wave and the dyeing, and the conclusion was drawn by evaluating the hair damage as follows. For the tensile strength, the high value was represented in the posttreatment of essence and for the thickness of hair, the essence experiment group represented to be thick showing the D3 of 0.0347 ± 0.0021mm and D4 of 0.0351 ± 0.0023 nm. In the results of measuring the hair using SEM of 20,000x magnifications to find out the morphological characteristics of the hair surface, D3, which the essence of clove extracts was applied as pre-treatment, was represented 342.79 ± 17.02 nm and D4, which the essence of clove extracts was applied as the post-treatment, was represented 374.40 ± 10.00 nm showing the thickest coating effect compared to all the other experiment groups. In the results of analyzing the hair components using ESD after the continuous treatment of the permanent wave and the dyeing, the sulfur content in the pre-treatment with the clove essence was 09.89 Wt% representing the highest. It is expected that the results of this study would be used as the measure to prevent the hair damage occurred in the chemical treatment in the beauty industrial sites and would be leaded to more effective experiment in order to mitigate the hair damage by suggesting the new research method based on the results of this study in future.
