Objective: When it is difficult for the elderly to live independently due to physical health issues, the chances of being admitted to the nursing hospital increase. For the hospitalized elderly, fear of the new environment may cause psychological changes and change the QOL. If they have hearing loss, more impact is expected. The study aims to investigate the QOL for the hospitalized elderly in the nursing hospital, who are suspected to have hearing loss. Methods: 37 people (m:f=12:25) who could receive the hearing screening with TEOAE and responded to the questionnaires about the QOL were selected. Participants were divided into two groups based on signal-to-noise ratio of TEOAE. Hearing loss suspected group was less than 10 ㏈ SNR (n=19), and the normal hearing group (n=18) over 10 ㏈ SNR. For the QOL, the WHOQOL-BREF was used. Results: No significant differences were observed in all the subscale of the QOL such as physical health, psychological health, social relationship, living environment, and more. In respective questionnaires, those suspected to have hearing loss had healthy sleep (p=.025) but had low satisfaction in medicare service (p=.042) and public transportation (p=.044). Conclusion: The hospitalized elderly in the nursing hospital, who are suspected to have hearing loss, had high satisfaction in sleep and low satisfaction in medicare service and public transportation use.
