This study aims to examine whether the social welfare service experience provided by the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare can moderate the effects of caregiving stresses on parents of children with intellectual disabilities' attitude towards marriage. For this purpose, we used multiple regression analysis involving 739 parents who participated in the Korean National Survey on Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and their Families in 2011. In order to address the research questions, multiple regression analyses were used. Specifically, interaction effects were tested for moderating effects. Main results are as follows. When the parents had experienced social welfare services, the relationship between time demands of caring and parents' negative attitude of marriage is negative. However, when the parents had never experienced social welfare services, the results were reversed. The findings suggest that the effect of caregiving stresses on parents' attitude towards marriage varied by social welfare service experience. Therefore, intervention on social welfare service experience in South Korea is necessary.
