Even though the color trend is an important element of nail art, there are not many researches on it. Thus, this study aims to newly seek for the visual expression of nail design by developing the nail art design with the use of color trend of PANTONE having influence internationally. As the color trend of PANTONE has the most important influence on the prediction of trend, the color trend of PANTONE was selected. Because it is too broad to handle the overall context of PANTONE, the representative colors of PANTONE in 2012-2016 were considered by limiting it to the scope of the recent five years. And selecting themes in accordance with the composition of process and using the motive images, the illustration and works were produced. In the results of this study, by using the color trend of PANTONE, the internal/external changes of image could be expressed, on top of viewing the possibility of its application to the development of visual design. Also, through the understanding of the color trend of PANTONE, colors could be easily selected from the existing nail art methods. Thus, it aims to expand the design expression area of nail art and also to contribute to the development of nail industry by using the color trend of PANTONE. There should be continuous researches on nail art by applying the research on color trend to diverse art areas in the future.
