The purpose of this study was to verify whether the self-determinism used in various behavior-related studies can be applied to the field of appearance management behavior appropriately. The purpose of this study was to investigate the sub-dimensions of self-determination and appearance management behavior in 276 women and to examine the relationship between self-determination and appearance management behavior and the effects of self-determination on appearance management behavior. Self-determinism was derived from Mon regulation, external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, integrated regulation, and intrinsic regulation. Factors such as hair, makeup, and clothing behavior were analyzed as three factors of appearance management behavior. As a result of correlation analysis between selfdetermination and appearance management behavior, there was a positively correlated relationship between sense of mon regulation, external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, and integrated regulation. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the influence of self-determinism on appearance management behaviors was influenced by intrinsic regulation, integrated regulation, mon regulation, external regulation. The results show that the more self-determinism is, the higher the appearance management behavior is, and the self-determinism as study purpose is verified to be applied to the study of appearance management behavior.
