This study is to examine the historical development of issues relating to the churches’ renewal from the perspective of the Lausanne Movement. For more than four decades the Lausanne Movement claimed that corruption within the church has become one of the most serious hindrance of churches’ participation in the Missio Dei. In 1974 when the first Lausanne Congress was held, the discussion on the reformation of the church was initiated by Latin American evangelicals. It continued to be one of the leading agenda discussed in various meetings. However, after 1989, the issues of churches’ reformation was not actively discussed. The prophetic voice of the reformation of churches rekindled during the Pattaya Forum in 2004. By that time, the reformation of the church became an even more significant topic. And to this day, theologians continue their efforts to tackle corruption within the church by revealing the negative aspects of prosperity theology.
