In order to understand the 〈The Romance of West Chamber(西廂記)〉 well, some translation and annotation are carried out by Korean literati in Joseon Dynasty. one of the annotations by Hutan(後歎)has unique literary value. The change of context leads to the change of understanding, we can see the Korean reader's acceptance attitude and psychology by Hutan's annotation. Joseon has no genre like the traditional opera of China, so it's very difficult to explain the different detail between the traditional song of Joseon and Chinese opera. Even there are more differences than similarities, Hutan still tried his best to compared these two genres and explain them to the readers. We have to say that some of his explanation is incorrect, but it did could help the readers to understand. Hutan's knowledge of Chinese Ci(詞)was very rich, most of the Ci he quoted has the same words and similar atmosphere to the original. Through Hutan's annotation the readers can understand the meaning and emotion of the original work better, but sometimes there's no correlation between the quote and the original work, they just have the same word. And also we should know that Hutan was familiar with Chinese Ci, that didn't mean he can write it well.
