The purpose of this study is to present research trends and future research directions for ethical leadership in Korea. For this study, ethical leadership research from domestic academic journals were collected and analyzed. Because the concept of ethical leadership has been actively discussed and investigated overseas since Brown et al. (2005), the data collection process focused on papers published after 2005. A total of 143 papers were reviewed, and factors affecting ethical leadership were analyzed. Keyword and network analysis was also employed to visualize and confirm the variables that ethical leadership was directly related to. The research results were as follows. First, domestic studies on ethical leadership have mostly occurred in the field of business administration, but relatively few studies have been conducted compared with other leadership theories. Second, because many of the studies conducted questionnaires with responses at the individual level, research with more diverse methodological approach is required to avoid distorting or misinterpreting the effects of ethical leadership. Third, past studies have generally positioned ethical leadership as an independent variable, so research on the antecedents of ethical leadership is lacking to date. Therefore, literature reviews and empirical analysis of attitudinal and behavioral variables associated with ethical leadership are required. Finally, it is necessary to understand the impact of ethical leadership in more depth by assessing the differential effects of ethical leadership between generations.

본 연구는 국내 윤리적 리더십에 대한 연구동향과 미래 연구 방향을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구를 위해 국내 학술지 중 윤리적 리더십 실증연구를 수집하여 분석하였다. 구체적으로, Brown et al.(2005)의 연구 이후 해외에서 윤리적 리더십의 개념 정립과 논의가 활발히 진행됨에 따라 국내도 동일하게 2005년 이후 발간된 논문을 중점적으로 탐색하였고, 실증연구를 중심으로 총 143편의 논문을 검토하였다. 연구과정에서 윤리적 리더십이 영향을 주는 요인들을 살펴보았으며, 키워드 분석과 네트워크 분석을 통하여 어떠한 변수들과 연관이 있는지를 시각화하였다. 윤리적 리더십 국내 연구동향은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 윤리적 리더십의 국내연구는 경영학 분야를 포함하여 다양한 학문 영역에서 연구가 진행되었으나 다른 리더십 이론들과 비교하여 연구 수가 상대적으로 적었다. 따라서 윤리적 리더십에 대한 이해를 높이기 위해 더욱 많은 연구관심이 필요하다. 둘째, 윤리적 리더십에 영향을 미치는, 즉 윤리적 리더십을 발현하는 선행요인에 관한 연구는 현재까지 많이 부족한 현실이다. 선제적 관점에서 윤리적 리더십 선행요인에 대한 연구 필요성이 제기된다. 셋째, 개인차원에서 또한 동일 응답 원천으로 설문을 진행한 연구가 대부분이므로 윤리적 리더십의 영향이 왜곡되거나 허위로 해석될 수 있다는 점에서 방법론상 다양한 접근이 요구된다. 마지막으로 세대 간 윤리적 리더십의 인식 및 효과 차이 검증을 통해 현재 사회에서 요구되는 윤리적 리더십의 수준을 파악할 필요가 있다. 연구의 말미에 본 연구의 시사점 및 한계를 추가적으로 제시하였다.
