Purpose : The purpose of this study is to survey pediatricians’ perception regarding children suspected of having developmental language disorders focusing on the language domain of the Korean Developmental Screening Test for Infants and Children(K-DST). Methods : Internet-based questionnaire was conducted in the pediatricians’ community in October 2022 and 87 doctors responded to the survey. The questionnaire consists of four area, which are general information of the pediatricians’ perception of the language development and developmental language disorders, recognition of the language domain questions in K-DST and actions after K-DST evaluation. Results : First, pediatricians had enough knowledge of children’s language development. Second, pediatricians were familiar with the language domain questions of the K-DST and confidently explained the test result. Third, pediatricians treated children suspected of having language problems based on the manual. When a child is referred to another institution for further examination, the need for an official medical response letter is high for holistic and systematic treatment. Conclusions : The role of the pediatricians is essential to do early screening and rehabilitate children having developmental language disorders. The medical system needs to be improved for this purpose.
