The purpose of this investigation was to examine the relations between socio-demographic characteristics, motivation, past visitation, satisfaction and environmental attitudes. Visitors to national parks were clustered into four distinct groups using their mean scores on attitudes toward management actions designed to protect resource of national parks. It was observed that environmental attitudes of these visitors were heterogeneous, with segments in favor of strong protection of natural resources and, at the other extreme, those who were disinterested in environmental issues confronting national parks. These four groups were then examined in relation to several variables. A profile of the different segments of visitors was constructed to document how environmental attitudes are associated with income, gender, motivation to visit, previous visit and satisfaction. The segmentation analysis in this study provided a way to find homogeneous groups among the public that have different opinions on how to handle important environmental issues confronting national parks. The profile of the identified segments can aid practitioners to better manage national parks and to develop effective strategies in resource management and protection.
