Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the perception, use, and educational needs of speech sound disorders. This study is to find out the recognition, use, and educational needs of speech rehabilitation personnel for the treatment technique of speech development disorder. Methods: A survey was conducted on 50 speech language pathologists (SLP) performing speech language therapy in the clinical field. Results: First, Among the speech sound disorder intervention techniques, the paired stimuli technique, the traditional technique, the distinctive feature contrast approach, the communication-oriented technique, and the phonological process analysis approach were widely recognized. Second, the speech sound treatment technique that SLP answered that it is used in clinical practice is the traditional technique, the paired stimuli approach, the communication-oriented technique, the distinctive feature contrast approach, the articulation modification program, and the phonological process analysis approach, etc. Third, as a results of a survey on educational needs of SLPs, it was found that the educational demands of phonological process analysis approach, meta-phonological treatment, distinctive feature contrast approach and organic articulation disorder treatment was relatively high. Conclusions: Through this study, it was found that the perception of SLPs for the treatment technique of speech sound disorders is generally high, but the status of use in the clinical field is lower than that of the recognition. The degree of recognition and use of the phonological approach was lower than that of the phonetic approach, and the educational needs was higher. In addition, support for the demand for education on treatment techniques should be provided.
